 President Barack Obama says the executive action he took this week requiring federal contractors to pay employees at least $10.10 per hour is a step toward restoring opportunity for all.美国总统奥巴马表示，本星期他所采取的要求联邦政府合同公司向其雇员支付10点1美元最低小时工资的行政措施，是朝着为所有人恢复机会迈出的一步。

The president said in his weekly address Saturday these federal contractors were the workers "who serve our troops' meals, wash their dishes, care for our veterans."奥巴马总统星期六在每周例行讲话中说，这些联邦合同人员是“为我军提供膳食，洗碗洗碟，护理老兵的”工作人员。

Obama said the economy has been growing for four years, but wages for the average worker have "barely budged," while "those at the top are doing better than ever."奥巴马说，美国经济连续四年向前发展，普通员工工资“几乎没涨”，而“那些社会顶层人的状况却好过以往。”

President Obama said that's why the United States needed to build an economy "that works for everybody, not just a fortunate few."奥巴马总统说，这就是为什么美国需要建设一个“人人受益，而非只是少数幸运儿受益”的经济。

He called on lawmakers in Congress to pass a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.奥巴马呼吁国会议员通过一项将联邦最低小时工资提高到10点1美元的法案。

The president said the passing of the bill would lift millions of Americans out of poverty and help millions more work their way out of poverty without requiring a single dollar in new taxes or spending.奥巴马总统说，通过这项法案将使千百万美国人脱贫，有助于让千百万乃至更多的人通过努力摆脱贫困，而无需增加一美元新税收，也无需增加政府开支。
