(Business) Ukraine Causes Fall In Regional Markets

(商业) 乌克兰造成区域市场股价下滑

The TAIEX closed down 37.06 points recently after worries about the situation in Ukraine left stock markets uneasy. Taiwan’s New Taiwan dollar also weakened 0.1 percent against its US counterpart.

台股加权股价指数最近以下滑37.06点作收，因对乌克兰情势的忧虑而让股市景况不佳。新台币兑美金的匯率也跌了0.1€‚

Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting vice president Cheng Tsung-chi blamed the tensions on Russia’s recent actions in Crimea, but added that a consolidation in shares would likely have happened regardless, as Taiwan recently hit a thirty month high of 8,639.58.

Economies worldwide are seeing similar reactions, with analysts saying financial markets worldwide are becoming risk-averse. According to ANZ currency strategist Sam Tuck, “It’s a reaction to the escalation in tension in Ukraine over the weekend...the traditional risk proxies are getting hit, and the safe havens are getting bid.”

全球经济都有类似反应，分析师说全球经济市场都变得规避风险。根据澳盛银行货币策略分析师Sam Tuck表示：「这是对乌克兰这週末情势越发紧绷的反应。传统风险代理遭受打击，而人们则转向避险港。」

China reported disappointing manufacturing figures that have the world’s number two economy concerned about the situation, and Tokyo, Japan, shed 1.27 percent. Similarly, Sydney, Australia, fell 0.38 percent and Seoul, Korea, lost 0.77 percent. Hong Kong fell 1.47 percent, and the euro shed 0.2 percent against the US dollar.
